Richard Gilewitz Guitar Concert, Feb. 20 2026 @ 7:30

The Art Center of Citrus County Theatre is pleased to host internationally acclaimed guitarist Richard Gilewitz. Meet & Greet in the A&E Building 7:00 PM Show 7:30 PM in the Theatre

We are thrilled to welcome fingerstyle guitar master Richard Gilewitz back to the Art Center for a very special Album Release Event. For this year’s annual concert, Richard is celebrating the recent release of his 10 th LP! Aptly titled “Gilewitz”, this project is a collection of a dozen of Richard’s original compositions blending classical, blues, ragtime, folk, jazz, bluegrass, swing, all re-recorded and reimagined.

Richard’s vision for these recordings is energetic, complex, and exciting. Released on vinyl and CD, the tunes are informed by insights and experiences gleaned over his decades’ long career. Included in many of the tunes are frequent collaborator Tim May’s beautiful arrangements, creating a tapestry of sounds on a multitude of instruments from banjo and mandolin to dobro and guitar. “Gilewitz” is Richard’s voice, Richard’s hands, and Richard’s story, told through strings with all the nuance, gentleness, and pugnacious attack that combine into the quirky storytelling mad scientist of guitar player that we’ve all come to love and welcome at the Art Center.

Never one to settle for the boring or mundane, Richard Gilewitz surprises audiences with his uproariously eccentric vision of the world and its inhabitants alongside breathtaking artistry on the 6- and 12-string guitar. Named one of the top fingerstyle guitarists of all time, Richard captivates listeners with uniquely emotional interpretations of romping knucklebusters and contemplative classical tunes reimagined for steel strings.

What truly sets Richard apart is the breadth of his musical choices and inspirations and the emotional tone he elicits from every piece. Of course it isn’t just the music. When was the last time you heard a story and then a song about the smallest penguins on Earth vomiting en masse under the floorboards above which Richard was performing? Richard entertains as only Richard can, with a unique combination of spellbinding fingerstyle mastery and hilarious commentary on life. Studying for decades with a classical guitarist who was taught by a violinist who played alongside Albert Einstein: this is Richard in a nutshell.  Unusual, unique, surprising, and a master of fingerstyle guitar.
