Composition Workshop by the Art Center Shutterbugs Helps Photographers Create Stronger, Story-Driven Images

Photographers of all skill levels are invited to sharpen their creative eye at the upcoming Composition Workshop on Monday, March 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Art Center of Citrus County. This engaging and practical workshop will focus on the key considerations that turn an ordinary snapshot into a compelling photograph that truly tells a story.

Participants will explore essential questions every photographer should ask before pressing the shutter, including:

  •        What is the best shutter speed for the scene?

  •        How much depth of field do I want?

  •        Are there distractions in the background?

  •        Am I focused on the right subject?

  •        What direction of light works best?

  •        Is the photo unique and interesting?

  •        How can shapes and angles improve the image?

  •        Do viewers’ eyes go where I intend?

  •        How strong is my overall composition?

  •        What story does my photograph tell?

Through discussion and practical guidance, attendees will gain tools they can immediately apply to create more intentional, impactful images.

The workshop is free for Art Center members. A $5 fee for non-members applies. Space is limited, so advance reservations are encouraged.

Your instructor, Ken Voegele has worked as a professional photographer for the past 38 years.  He is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography.  He received his Master Photography Certificate from the Chicago Professional Photographer’s Association in 2006.  Ken was also awarded Wedding Photograph of the Year from the Illinois Professional Photographer’s Association in 2011.  In 2015 Ken’s photo company, Studio 3 Productions was awarded The Knot’s Wedding Hall of Fame for being in the top 1% of wedding photographers.
