Call For Entries Nature Coast Art Exhibit #1 Sept 20, 2017 10am-2:00pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Art Center of Citrus County Announces Call For Entries for September Nature Coast Art Exhibit

The Art Center of Citrus County has announced a call for entries from area artists for the upcoming September Nature Coast Exhibit No. 1 for the 2017-2018 season.  This exhibit is open to both members of the Art Center and non-members. Two-dimensional artists are welcome to submit their work for this non-juried entry exhibition in the categories of Paintings: Oil and Acrylic, Graphics and Mixed Media, Paintings: Water Media and Photography: Black and White and Color.

Entries for the Nature Coast Exhibit may be dropped off at the Art Center on September 20, 2017 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and picked up on November 1, 2017 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Entry fee for members is $15 for two works, $30 for two works for nonmembers and $5 for each additional work up to five. Awards will be given in the above categories.  A complete prospectus is available on the Art Center website.

Jurist for this exhibit will be Grace Senior Morandi.  Born in Colombia, South America, she started to paint in many medias at an early age, winning her first art contest at age 13.  Art took a backseat to a professional career while concentrating on Motherhood and raising two boys.

In 2001 she began exhibiting and studying with great teachers in the USA, South America, Mexico and Europe.

Grace’s artwork is in many private collections in the USA, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Greece, Ecuador, India, Panama, Puerto Rico, Scotland, and Spain.

Constantly testing new ground by switching mediums to convey her artistic talent, she is a winner of many awards, some of them Best in Show.

She states, “I am not a realistic painter, but I keep some realism in creating the compositions.   I understand art as the expression of my inner feelings and not a copy of existing objects. In my opinion, art is a way of transforming objects into feelings and color expresses the moods and emotions.  My great desire is to have my artwork displayed in many homes and businesses in the world so my work is affordably priced.”

An opening artist’s reception for the exhibition will be held on September 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Art Center. Open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 for nonmembers, refreshments will be served and winning works will be announced.  Coinciding with the opening night of the Art Center Theater production of Boeing, Boeing theater attendees will have an opportunity to vote on the exhibition People’s Choice Award during intermission.

The exhibition is free, open to the public and may be viewed Monday through Friday 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and during every performance of the Art Center Theater through October 29, 2017.  A complete schedule of events can be found on their website https://artcenterofcitruscounty.org/ . The Art Center Gallery is located at 2644 N Annapolis Ave. Hernando, Florida.

The Art Center of Citrus County is open to all who appreciate and want to support the arts in our community. They are a member owned and operated 501c3 non-profit organization with programs in the performing and visual arts offering opportunities for participation, education, and appreciation of the arts.
