Opening Night Friday Sept. 20 Love, Lies and the Doctor’s Dilemma

Love, Lies, and the Doctor’s Dilemma

Love, Lies, and the Doctors Dilemma

The first ‘play’ of the new season a comedy/drama by Michael & Susan Parker, Directed by Larry Mitchell

Performance Dates: Sept 20, 21, 22, 27, *28, 29, Oct 4, 5, 6, 2019

Joan Scheller lives with the great love of her life, Sandy. In an effort to hide her relationship, she introduces him as her psychiatrist. One little white lie leads to another. Before long, Vinny the Enforcer, a quintessential Italian mobster, masquerades as her security guard, while her son, Chris, is forced to wear a dress and become her daughter Christina. Further complications occur when her new neighbor, Rachael, whose life appears to be a series of catastrophes, creates chaos and confusion wherever she goes. “The Doctor” is in. Has Joan created a monster? Everyone wants a session. Olivia wants to discuss her love life, Rachael wants to know why she’s such a disaster, and Vinny wants to discuss his work as an “Enforcer.” Sandy is forced to listen and give misguided advice, which, to everyone’s surprise, seems to work. But what about love? Of course there’s Joan and Sandy, if they can survive Joan’s white lies; then there’s Rachael, who is strongly attracted to Chris, if he can survive her mayhem. Finally, there’s Olivia, who hires Vinny away from the mob to be her personal security guard (With benefits?). Little white lies create mistaken identities and chaos in this enchanting love story.

The Music Man Theatre Gallery Artist Velukutty Balakrishnan MD

Velukutty was born in the Indian state of Kerala which has been described as the ‘ Gods Own Country’ by the visitors. He moved to the U S A in 1975 and has been living in Citrus County for the past 34 years.

He is a self taught artist. He used to draw from a very young age. Velukutty took up oil painting seriously after his retirement as a physician. He has been trying to paint almost every day for the past 4 years. Painting is very relaxing, fulfilling and liberating affair for him.

He loves to paint the rolling waves with the splatter when it meets the rock in the evening light. Many mornings he is intrigued with the fleeting colors of the morning light over the clouds. He wants to paint it, but not always successful. He loves the fall colors, the mountain streams, the small waterfalls, and wants to paint the ripples of the waves which breaks up the reflections of the nature above.

He wants to bring a sense of reality in a convincing way in his creations. When he takes up the brush he is in a different world. “Not all of my work turns out to be acceptable.”

“I am still a student. There is lot of ground I have to cover in the field of art. My style is still evolving. I want to create visual poetry which appeals to the emotions rather than the intellect.”

It’s December 20th, 1970, and Elvis Presley has disappeared. No one, not even his wily manager, “The Colonel”, knows of his whereabouts. But the Colonel is all shook up because he has racked up a secret debt — and with the King himself missing, the only way to pay it off is to find an Elvis impersonator within 24 hours. Hijinks ensue as the Colonel takes desperate measures to replace a man who is irreplaceable, all while keeping the prying eyes of a nosy reporter at bay and figuring out what happened to the real Elvis.

Comedy: No Body Like Jimmy March 15-31 Call the Box Office for Tickets 352-746-7606

No Body Like Jimmy

Eloise Vanlandingham is running for Congress and a small gathering for potential donors is planned by Nigel, her less-than-scrupulous campaign manager, and her husband Ralph. Just before the first guests arrive Harold, Ralph’s college roommate, shows up at the front door with a problem: he’s driving around town with a dead body in his van and he doesn’t know what to do with it. The body arrives in the house just as the first guests arrive. What can they do? They dress the body up like a guest and call him Jimmy.

“No Body Like Jimmy” is a fast-paced farce about politics and about a dead body being the life of the party
